What began as a modest importing business in 1972 has evolved into one of the largest U.S. manufacturers and exporters of non-threaded tension fasteners. Since its establishment in New Jersey, Vogelsang Corporation has systematically expanded its manufacturing activities by melding German engineering with American production know-how, thereby transforming itself from a captive master distributor of slotted spring pins to an integrated manufacturer of formed metal products. Today, Vogelsang produces slotted spring pins, a.k.a. ROLLPIN®, coiled style spring pins, split steel tension bushings, and custom tubular products which are sold worldwide through a network of independent distributors, direct sales and in collaboration with the European Fasteners GmbH, which is responsible for sales in the EU.
Vogelsang, unlike many fastener manufacturers, has achieved its growth and financial results by concentrating its efforts on improving productivity through technical innovation rather than by moving operations and jobs to low cost labor areas overseas. The vast majority of its products are manufactured from domestic steel in a modern building located in the Lakewood Industrial Campus in Lakewood (Ocean County), New Jersey.

Vogelsang Corporation announced that is has been awarded a certificate of registration to the international quality standard ISO/TS 16949:2002. Vogelsang joins the elite ranks of company’s certified to this globally recognized automotive quality standard. The Big Three have strongly urged their suppliers to transition to the new standard as soon as possible, but not later than 14 December 2006, with DaimlerChrysler subsequently requiring registration to ISO/TS 16949 by July 1, 2004. It is reported that there are less than 300 organizations worldwide that have been awarded TS certification.
Mr. Armin Wachsmuth, Vogelsang VP/GM, explains that this prestigious certification is part of a systemic evolution at Vogelsang to meet or exceed worldwide customer expectations. "We obtained ISO 9002 certification in 1997 and quickly followed up on that by becoming QS-9000 registered. The ISO/TS 16949:2002 is a result of continuous improvement activities by all team members and is a significant achievement for our organization." Quality Manager Gene Schror spearheaded the efforts to become compliant to the technical standard and coordinated the on-site audit by TÜV Rheinland of North America. "All in all, it went pretty smoothly," stated Mr. Schror, "it appears that our processes and procedures already in place and our familiarity with the ISO and QS quality requirements were a big help in obtaining ISO/TS certification".
Vogelsang is well known in the fastener industry as a leading North American producer of slotted and coiled tension pin fasteners, and in the automotive and off-highway markets for the tension
bushings, tubular parts, and compression limiters they manufacture at their Lakewood, NJ factory.
